Five Things Friday: December 14

Hi Friends,

From Vancouver to Toronto here are the highlights of this incredible week! ๐Ÿ˜„

Big Smiles in Vancity

These girls are incredible. I had so much during my time in Vancouver thanks to these beautiful souls ๐Ÿ˜Š thanks for all the heart-to-hearts and memories. โค๏ธSee you soon.

How cute is this little Amore? This is little Char, you have definitely seen her on my blog before, definitely on my Instagram and even in a couple of YouTube videos. She is one of my favourite dogs I have ever met and always puts such a big smile on my face ๐Ÿ˜Š I hope one day I can get a dog as special as her.

A Perfect Birthday

My Birthday was perfect! Truly I could not imagine a better day than what it was – I actually spent it with you guys in a vlog ๐Ÿ™‚ you can check it out here. When I pictured my birthday in Fall I just imagined I would get to go ice skating outside and guess what? It manifested ๐Ÿ˜Šโœจ Special thanks to my amazing friend Nicole for ice skating with me (even though she is not a fan). Girl, you slayed – boots in parka and all!ย

Setting Intentions

This 2 month solo trip I have been on has really helped me carve out what I want 2019 to look like for myself. It’s going to be a big year, full of big changes, but I couldn’t be happier than for what’s to come. Let’s go 27! ๐Ÿฅณ

Laughter, Smiles & Nostalgia

This is a photo of an old letter to Santa my Dad found and sent me this week. I found it hilarious and I think you will too ๐Ÿ˜

Happy Holidays Everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š

Five Things Friday: December 7

Hi Friends,

It’s been a beautiful week in British Columbia ๐Ÿ˜Šfrom my home of Vancouver Island ๐Ÿž to the city of Vancouver ๐Ÿ™ here are the highlights:

Van Isle

It felt so good to be home. Vancouver Island is such a special place, fresh air, ocean, mountains, so much nature ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒฒ I definitely appreciate the island more and more as I get older. I am so blessed to have grown up in one of the most beautiful places in the world. ๐ŸŒŽ Have you ever been?

Spa Day at Tigh Na Mara

On Saturday Mikaela, Jenn and I had a girls spa day at Tigh Na Mara in Parksville ๐Ÿง–๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ it was just what we all needed: quality time to catch up and pure relaxation ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ We decided to do this because all of our birthdays fall across this quarter of the year and because we won’t all be in the same place to celebrate we thought why not plan a spa day!? ๐ŸŽ‰ I treated myself to an illuminating facial and it was one of the best I have ever had! ๐Ÿ˜Šโœจ

My Sister Jenn!

Jenn and I first became friends when I was 20. I was coming back from my solo Eurotrip and was without a roommate, luckily a little workplace called Cactus Club Cafe brought us together! We quickly grew into sisters through the year and have been just as close ever since! I’m so grateful to have spent quality time with her this week ๐Ÿ˜Š We did some winter clothes shopping, had some delicious lunches and chilled out in our PJs drinking tea and watching Gossip Girl ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ You can follow along on Jenn’s adventures through her blog and Instagram.

VanCity Adventures

So I’m back in Vancouver and I couldn’t be happier about it! The sun is out and so is the Christmas spirit ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽ„ I’m so excited to spend my birthday weekend here with these amazing girls!

WeWork has definitely been one of my highlights from North America – I know they have them all over, but I just haven’t had the chance to visit one yet! My amazing friend Julie has brought me along to WeWork with her for a few days now and it has proven to be so productive and inspiring for me. For those of you who don’t know WeWork is a co-working office, so it has everything from free almond milk lattes to great new friends! โ˜•๏ธ

Five Things Friday: November 30

Hi Friends,

It’s been a beautiful and very fulfilling week for me from the Caribbean back home to Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Here are the highlights:

Goodbye Caribbean! โ˜€๏ธ

On Sunday we said good-bye to Punta Cana (you can watch the Travel Diary here) ๐ŸŒด It was a wonderful holiday and I am so grateful to have had such special quality time with my family after not seeing them for almost a year. I think we need to do this trip every year! ๐Ÿ˜‹

Dinner with my little brother

On Wednesday night we had dinner with my little brother Drake! We first went to check out his new condo (which is gorgeous, well done bro! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ) then we went to one of my favourite restaurants in Nanaimo: Firehouse Grill. They have some amazing veggie sushi options btw ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒฑ

Goddess Provisions Box

This week I inboxed an amazing package from Goddess Provisions! I filmed the unboxing in my latest Zoey’s Diary video if you wish to see more ๐Ÿ˜‰ Basically this box was a self/care paradise! Goddess Provisions is actually a monthly subscription and I am looking forward to unboxing more in the future! This could be an excellent Christmas gift idea ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Hometown Feels

How beautiful is my Bedstemor’s Christmas tree!? ๐Ÿ˜ It is always my favourite Christmas tree because it is full of family memories. I wish I could be with my family this Christmas ๐Ÿ˜” but I am happy to report I still got to experience some of the magic while I was here! ๐ŸŽ„

Cards with Bedstemor

I’ve been having coffee and playing cards with my Bedstemor every day this week and my heart is so full โค๏ธ I’ve missed her so much. I’ll be back soon.

Five Things Friday: November 23

Hola Amigos!

It’s been another incredible week here with my family in the Dominican Republic, wow this place is beautiful! ๐Ÿ˜ I am excited to share my highlights with you:

Mornings in the SUN โ˜€๏ธ

Sunshine does so much for us. Each morning I have been enjoying my espresso (yes, I’m back on the caffeine) on the beach โ˜•๏ธ This has been my thinking/meditation time and it has served to be so beneficial for me. Big changes are on the horizon and this quiet time on the beach has allowed me to sift through my thoughts and create the best action plan I can for 2019. โœจ

Saona Island

No filter. I still can’t believe this place exists. This photo does no justice, but I created an Instagram highlight that does a better job ๐Ÿ˜‹ Isla Saona is in my top 3 of most beautiful places I have ever experienced. Fun fact: they filmed Pirates of the Caribbean here ๐ŸŒด

Mexican Food

This week we discovered the best restaurant in Punta Cana: Pestrata Punta Cana. It was so delicious I made my family eat here two nights in a row ๐Ÿ˜ They happily tended to my every vegan need and in turn I got some of the best authentic Mexican tacos I have ever had in my life! ๐Ÿ˜

Isla Catalina

This week we also discovered another island, “Isla Catalina.” My heart was stolen yet again by the beautiful blue waters and white sands. Paradise definitely exists in the Caribbean ๐ŸŒดโ˜€๏ธ

Life After Ayahuasca

This week I completed my Ayahuasca series on YouTube. This was by far the most vulnerable I have ever been on the internet ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿ’ปThe amount of love I received because of this – in the form of comments, emails, reach-outs has filled my heart beyond belief ๐Ÿ’› thank you for restoring my faith in the online world (as I expressed at the beginning of the series I have been feeling disconnected from it). I promise I’ll be back better than ever as life after Ayahuasca and Rythmia has been better than I could have ever imagined. ๐ŸŒŽโœจ

xx Zo

PS – I’ve had some technical difficulties while being away so I’ve had to take a pause on Zovember. When I return back to Canada I will post more videos ๐Ÿ˜Š

Five Things Friday: November 16

Hola Amigos!

It’s been an incredible week in the Caribbean reuniting with my family after being apart for almost a year ๐Ÿ’› Here are the highlights:

I am definitely a merchild ๐Ÿงœ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ I’ve been having such a great time at the beach in Punta Cana. The sand and water combination is perfection ๐Ÿ˜ there truly is no place like the Caribbean! ๐ŸŒด

The Go Travel Dress

This beautiful dress was gifted to me last week by my amazing friends at Kosan Travel. It was so great to meet with them in person and learn more about their company vision. Their vision is something I whole-heartedly align with: Functional, good-looking, comfortable travel clothing! You can currently check them out further and pledge on Kickstarter to get your Kosan Go Travel Dress by clicking here. ๐Ÿ˜Š

My Favourite Breakfast

Being in the tropics means my favourite breakfast in the world always comes fresh! ๐ŸŒดThe heavenly combination is: watermelon, lime juice and passion fruit ๐Ÿ˜ Don’t knock it til you try it ๐Ÿ‰ pro-tip is to use the actual watermelon as a bowl ๐Ÿ˜‹

Santo Domingo

We took a little holiday away from our holiday to explore the capital of the Dominican Republic: Santo Domingo. This was such a beautiful city. I always love to explore away from the resort territory (when taking a beach holiday) because you have the opportunity to see so much more and learn much more about the history of the city and/or country you are visiting ๐Ÿ˜Š

Happy Colours & Happy People

It isn’t often in North America you see people painting their houses bright greens, pinks, purples, oranges, etc. In the Caribbean this is a beautiful trend ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿก๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿก๐Ÿ’™ It brings a smile to my face seeing this. Let there be colour! ๐ŸŒˆ Also everyone here is so happy, kind and joyful this makes me smile too ๐Ÿ˜Š

Five Things Friday: November 9

Hi Friends! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Today I am writing you from beautiful BC ๐Ÿ”โ˜€๏ธ it’s been an incredible week here and I’m not just talking about the weather! Here are the highlights:

I Started Life-Coaching

YES! My dream is starting to come to fruition ๐Ÿ˜Š In the past few weeks I have made an active effort to let go of the things that no longer serve me and/or that no longer align with me. This is well-known to happen after the experience of Ayahuasca, but regardless my decisions of closing doors has allowed grande ones to open up in front of me. An example of this has been my ongoing desire to start coaching. In the past 2 weeks I have manifested two clients and I couldn’t be happier doing what I love: inspiring people to live their best lives and achieve their dreams ๐Ÿคฉ If you’re interested in my coaching packages, feel free to email me:

Hello VanCity!

How stunning is this view from Coal Harbour in Vancouver? โœจ I have been so lucky to have such gorgeous weather this week and to be surrounded by such beautiful people. This trip has been everything I’ve needed it to be and more ๐Ÿ’™ Thank you for inspiring me VanCity!

This Little Amore

This is Charlie! ๐Ÿค— She has been keeping me company this week while my friends have been at work. She is such a sweetheart – I have officially added “Get a dog” to my 2019 list of goals.

Cities in Autumn

I don’t know if there is a more charming time of year than autumn. When the air is crisp and the leaves are vibrant I always feel so refreshed and ambitious ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‚ Big changes are happening and big changes are on their way… โœจ

These Girls

This is Julie! ๐Ÿ˜Š She is one of four (five if you include little Charlie ๐Ÿถ) that I have been spending the week with here in Vancouver. Every time I am with this group of girls we always have the most incredible times and conversations. I am so lucky to be blessed with such beautiful people in my life inside & out โค๏ธ There isn’t a picture of all of us together because we were having too much fun living in the moment, but I promise to capture them soon ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ“ธ

Five Things Friday: November 2

Hola Amigos ๐Ÿ˜Š

Today I am writing you from sunny Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica. I have had an incredible week volunteering with Latin America Sea Turtles / SEE Turtles and I can’t wait to share it with you! Here are the highlights:

Pura Vida ๐ŸŒด

Costa Rica is full of some of the kindest people I have ever met while travelling. Costa Ricans use the phrase “Pura Vida” to greet each other and say everything’s great in life. The translation directly means “pure life” or “simple life.” โ˜€๏ธ I think it is so beautiful as it represents the country so well. I am feeling so fulfilled and rejuvenated ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’›

SEE Turtles ๐Ÿข

I am so happy to have fulfilled one of my 2018 goals this past week and that was to volunteer with sea turtles. I not only wanted to raise money for the cause (which you can help by clicking here), but I wanted to give back through my own time an energy. In turn this trip has been one of the most rewarding I have ever taken. I only wish I had taken the time to explore volunteer trips sooner! If you are interested in volunteering with sea turtles then check out SEE Turtles – they offer rewarding trips in stunning locations all over the world ๐Ÿขโค๏ธ๐ŸŒด

We spotted a SLOTH!

Turtles aren’t the only wildlife I have been hanging out with this week, we actually spotted a sloth in the wild ๐Ÿ˜ฎ how incredible! And cute ๐Ÿ˜Š Costa Rica is full of animals and it will be a miracle if I don’t return home with one… ๐Ÿ˜‹

A Plastic Ocean

As part of the volunteer program this week we watched the documentary “A Plastic Ocean” which was extremely well-done. Through this documentary I have been inspired even more to take care of our beaches, water and to eliminate my plastic waste as a human, and of course continue a vegan diet. I highly recommend watching this documentary to anyone any everyone. It is so powerful when we open our eyes to the problems our behaviours have caused in this world ๐ŸŒŽ in this way and this way only can we be inspired to make positive change. I am happy to report part of the volunteer duties this week has been beach-cleans. I know this is something I will partake in even if I am not on a volunteer project. โค๏ธ

#ZOVEMBER is here!

This week on November 1st, 2018 the second annual #Zovember series has started on my YouTube channel! ๐Ÿ˜„ This is my yearly challenge of posting 1 video per day for 30 days. This year’s theme can be found in my Welcome to #Zovember video – check it out here!

xx Zo

PS I am raising money for SEE Turtle’s Billion Baby Turtles Campaign. My goal is to raise $2,500 by the end of 2018. Every little bit counts as $1 can save up to 5 turtle hatchlings ๐Ÿข โค๏ธ Click here for more information on how you can contribute.

Five Things Friday: October 26

Hi Friends,

My apologies on the delay in this week’s #FiveThingsFriday. I have taken the week to do a lot of self-reflection at Rythmia Life Advancement Center in Costa Rica. I felt like I needed to take some time offline, so that is why I haven’t posted much on social media. However, I am back! Still in Costa Rica, but ready and refreshed to get writing and posting again ๐Ÿ˜Šย Here are the highlights from my incredible week:

A night in Panama City

I spent Saturday night in a very funky hotel in Panama City called Riande Granada Urban Hotel. I booked this pretty last minute on and was impressed. I had a 24 hour layover I wanted to be comfortable and allow myself some space to collect myself before I was to be spending an intense week in Costa Rica – so it was perfect. I treated myself to a nice vegan dinner at The Loving Hut (highly recommend it) ๐ŸŒฟ and then spent the evening in my hotel room watching the finale of Shane Dawson’s latest series ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿ’ป I definitely need to check myself in for a cozy night at a hotel more often! It was perfect for some much needed me-time and it set the tone for the rest of the week.

Welcome to Rythmia

Honestly before arriving to Rythmia I had tons of thoughts running through my head and tons of emotions running through my body… I knew the week ahead of me would be challenging, but little did I know at the time it would become one of the best weeks of my life this far. I can’t wait to share more of my experiences with you in #Zovember (30 videos in 30 days on my YouTube channel).

The Journey Within

For those of you who don’t know what I was specifically up to at Rythmia it was a lot of yoga, meditation, breathwork and plant medicine ๐ŸŒฟ I had the life-changing opportunity of partaking in 4 Ayahuasca ceremonies with Shaman from all over the world ๐ŸŒŽ Ayahuasca is an ancient plant medicine from the Amazon jungle that has been used for over 5000 years to heal people: mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It gives one the opportunity to travel within the deepest parts of their mind, body and soul to allow great healing and soul-reconnection ๐ŸŒป I took the journey within and it worked. If you are curious about Ayahuasca, I recommend the free documentary The Reality of Truth with Michelle Rodriguez or the book Sh!t The Moon Said by Gerard Armond Powell.

Facing Yourself

It takes great bravery to face yourself and this is one of the greatest lessons I learned this week at Rythmia. Ayahuasca allows you to face your greatest fears and blocks right in the face – and let me tell you is that ever frightening ๐Ÿ˜ซbut the storms I faced always passed, and what is now left of those blocks and limiting beliefs is only a distant memory of what once was. The darkness and negative thought-processes that I once had, even just one week ago, no longer exist in my mind. I realized this week how brave I really am and that is something no one can take from me, not even my own mind.

Hugs & Holding Hands

It has been many years since I have been in a relationship or living near my family… so in that way I haven’t had many moments of long hugs or hand-holding. This is something you don’t realize you need until you have a really bad day, or unless you are in a safe enough space where this becomes a normality. This week at Rythmia I made up for my lost time, there were a lot of healing hugs and in times of need, I had loving hands to hold. I am so grateful for all of my new friends that so quickly became my family ๐Ÿ’›

Five Things Friday: October 19

Hi Friends,

I feel like I’ve been all over the world this week and it has been so wonderful ๐Ÿ˜Š Here are the highlights:

Pizzeria Ostiense

I couldn’t leave Italy without a stop at Pizzeria Ostiense. Sofie and I spent a beautiful day exploring Roma and catching up, and to top it off we had my favourite Pizza Romana ๐Ÿ˜ I don’t look excited at all! We even ate outside because the weather was still warm enough ๐ŸŒดโ˜€๏ธ

Unplanned Trip to Paris

I didn’t plan to be in Paris for long this week – originally my layover was 2 hours; however the Universe had a much different and perhaps more favourable plan for me โœจ The truth is – I could sit here and complain about the inconvenience of the airline of my overseas flight going bankrupt, cancelling all flights and having to fork over almost $1500 to get a new flight last minute – OR – I could take control of my situation, trust the Universe is working in my favour and enjoy a full day of LIVING in Paris – yoga by the canal, a picnic and a visit to the Eiffel Tower โค๏ธ I’m so grateful for this spontaneous gift of a trip, and to my amazing friend Cheryl for spending it with me! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I love this city and wow, it feels good to be back. So many memories of inspiration, love and finding myself. Although I was born and raised on Vancouver Island, I grew up in Toronto. This city will always feel the most comfortable for me. If you’re curious about my journey and have not yet read Beauty and the Breakdown (my first and favourite book) it is now available worldwide as a PDF download. You can check it out here ๐Ÿ˜Š

I feel Home

As mentioned above I feel the most comfortable in Toronto. I feel a bit of reverse culture shock happening since being away from Canada for almost a year… Upon stepping off the airplane and breathing in all that fresh air, spending the day running around Toronto and seeing familiar faces, I feel a huge sense of home and pride. Proud to be Canadian โค๏ธ

Nicole and I met almost 6 years ago studying abroad in Cuba ๐ŸŒด Who would have thought 6 years later we would still be having tons of fun, laughter and smiles in the city of Toronto? ๐Ÿ˜Š I’m so grateful we spontaneously met in the Caribbean, wound up living in the same city and even though I’ve been gone for almost 2 years are still such great friends today ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿค— Love you Nic!

xx Zo

Five Things Friday: October 12

Happy Friday Friends ๐Ÿ˜Š

I hope it has been an amazing week for you! Here are my highlights from lovely Lazio:

Afternoon with Elyssa!

I spent Saturday afternoon with Elyssa! ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ We had a delicious vegan lunch at Cul de Sac near Piazza Navona and then checked out the piazza post-showers for some photography ๐Ÿ“ธ The puddles made for some beautiful captures which were visible on my InstaStory – Are you following along? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I will miss you Roma

This was my last week in Roma for almost 2 months. Every time I am about to leave Rome starts to look even more beautiful (if that’s possible) and some “FOMO” starts to kick in ๐Ÿ˜œ I know amazing adventures await me on the other side though ๐Ÿ’› I can’t wait to see my family.ย ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Garden of Ninfa

On Sunday I visited the beautiful Garden of Ninfa with my friend Diego. Diego is actually a Patreon of mine, so it was so great to finally meet in person and enjoy such a lovely day together! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒป The Garden of Ninfa is such a unique place; Its very special microclimate allows for EVERYTHING to grow ๐ŸŒฑ Throughout the Garden you can spot plants, flowers and trees from all over the world ๐ŸŒ They can also grow up to 3x their size! How magically incredible! For photos and facts from the Garden of Ninfa you can check out my Instagram Stories.

Rooftops with my Girls

What more could I ask for than an evening with these ladies watching the sunset over Rome? ๐Ÿงก Ci vediamo presto amores!

Good Vibrations!

As I mentioned last week, the Universe has been clearing out some energies and bringing some lessons to light for a while now, and I am finally feeling clear again. I know a new chapter is about to unfold and adventure is just around the corner – I couldn’t be more prepared or excited for it! ๐Ÿ˜„ Andiamo!

xx Zo
