Five Things Friday: April 26th, 2019

Hi Friends!

I am back! If you haven’t checked in with me on YouTube or Instagram, I was away in Joshua Tree at a meditation retreat for 11 days – it was incredible! 🧘🏼‍♀️✨ More on the experience below:

Vipassana

Vipassana was an incredible experience for me. The 10 days I spent away in silence was truly life-changing in the most positive way. If you haven’t caught my latest YouTube video I talk more about what the experience brought me in terms of self-awareness. I am grateful to have attended in one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, Joshua Tree (Southern California) 🌵☀️ Waking up each day in the desert amongst the bloom was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had with nature 🙏🏼🌿 I am so grateful for the gift of my life and how many beautiful experiences I have had so far. I left beaming (and still am) with excitement of what the future holds…

Coffee Shops & Cuddles

This is Roba. I fell in love with her at a coffee shop in San Diego this past week ❤️ She is actually a rescue! Gabby and I spent this morning at Hawthorn Coffee working away. There’s just something about coffee shops with good vibes and good company that make for a perfect day… Simplicity is bliss.

Hiking Blooming Canyons

How beautiful is the Spring bloom? ☀️ I am so lucky to have experiences it in both San Diego and the desert 🌼🌵 Our world is such a beautiful place. Consider this is your reminder to get outside in nature this week (if you can!) and if not, at least find a good park to eat lunch in or go for a gratitude walk. It will do wonders for you!

Sunshine Sister

It was sad to say goodbye to Gabby and her roommates this week 😔 I always have the greatest times with all of them! 💛 If I hadn’t signed a lease in Toronto I probably would have missed my flight and moved in with them… Seriously. I am so lucky to have such amazing friends from all over the world. Here’s to more adventures together all over the globe!

Next Chapter

And so it begins… My next chapter in Toronto. Where will it lead? To ABUNDANCE of course!!! 😃 I am feeling very optimistic and excited to share my life with you as it unfolds. Any predictions?

Hola Friends!

I hope you’re having an amazing day. I have so great highlights to share with you from Vancouver to sunny San Diego ☀️ So, let’s get started! 😉

VanCity Weekend

Every time I go to VanCity I always have the best time with the girls 😊 Catching up on life, enjoying delicious food and getting outside in the fresh air 🏔 it’s never a dull moment ✨

HOLA SAN DIEGO!

I arrived in San Diego on Monday and it’s been the time of my life. There’s just something about being surrounded by great people under that Cali sunshine 😄 Basically this photo with my sister Gabby sums it up! Infinite laughter and life chats 💛 If you’re looking for a giggle you can check out our Instagram highlights!

Blading Along the Beach

This has been my favourite place to rollarblade, EVER! ☀️ Colomba and I have been rollerblading from Mission Beach all the way to La Jolla almost every day 🌴 The views and the fresh, ocean air have been incredible. What a feeling!

Thrifting

This week I went thrifting for the first time in many years! 👖 You can actually check out the experience on Liz’s vlog 🎥 The girls helped me find some amazing summer finds, including this awesome vintage Levi’s skirt. I feel Summer-ready now 😎☀️

The aku Acupressure Mat

This week I received my first ever Acupressure mat! I had previously used the aku ball for my hands (it has been amazing for my poor circulation) so I had been curious about the mat. As it turns out the benefits have been incredible. As someone who deals with poor circulation, Scoliosis and Restless Leg Syndrome I can say that the Acupressure Mat has helped me find a better balance within my body. I have also been using it to meditate on to prepare for Vipassana! 🧘🏼‍♀️ There is a lot to be said about Acupressure (different from the invasive acupuncture), but the one thing I can pass onto you is that if you are looking to heal tension within the body and challenge your mind at the same time – this is your magic tool. Learn more about Aku and their products here. If you like anything, enjoy 15% off with “Zoey” upon checkout 😊🙌🏼 #HealHarder

Special thanks to aku for sponsoring this blog post. Learn more about the aku products by visiting their website or following them on social media. Don’t forget you have a 15% off discount with the code “Zoey” 😊

Full Moon Ritual With Mane

On Wednesday Manesha and I celebrated the full moon together with a healing and inspiring ritual. I am truly grateful to have such an incredible woman in my life who I can call a soul sister 💛 Manesha has so many powerful healing gifts to share with this world (you can follow her journey on Instagram here) and I am so grateful she shares them with me! From yoga to reiki to herbal remedies to straight-up bomb advice on every subject, she is sunshine in the human form. ☀️

Fresh Cut, Fantastic Stylist

Tory has been cutting my hair since I first moved to Toronto 6 years ago (wow!) She is the only person I let touch my hair with scissors! ✂️ She is not only incredibly at her job, but she is such a beautiful person inside and out and always brightens my day! ✨ If you’re looking for a stylist in the 6 she’s your woman! 🤩 You can find her at Medulla & Co on Queen West and on Instagram here.

Hi Friends!

I hope you’ve all had a fantastic week! Here are my updates from Canada 😊

IMG_2550

Spa Day

What better way to get over jet-lag than to visit the Spa? 😛 Meika (my stepmom) and I planned a fun day of visiting the Rock & Gem show, a sushi lunch, facials at the spa and spontaneously, we added an Italian dinner to the mix! 🇮🇹 It was the perfect day and full of lots of quality time. If you ever find yourself on Vancouver Island the Tigh Na Mara is one of the best spas – be sure to get the “Illuminating Facial,” you won’t be disappointed. 🧖🏼‍♀️

Hiking

Meika and I went for a hike on Sunday to a beautiful lookout over my hometown 🏔 There was a lot of snow up the mountain so this made for an event greater adventure than we planned for 😝but overall it was a great day, full of fresh air and views.

Birthday Time!

This week we are celebrating two very special birthdays in my family 🥳 It is my Dad’s birthday and also my Bedstemor’s 90th Birthday! This weekend we are heading over to Vancouver as a family (18 of us!) for a fun weekend. To check out the highlights, follow me on Instagram!

Ski Day

On Wednesday my Dad and I went skiing up Mount Washington to celebrate his birthday! 🥳 The conditions were incredible ☀️ I’ve been coming up this mountain since I was a little girl – it’s where I originally learned to ski and snowboard ⛷ I’ve missed skiing so much so I’m glad we made time for this!

Beautiful BC

I am truly grateful to have settled back into my original home for the past week. It’s been a breath of fresh air, literally 😛The transition of moving from Rome back to Canada has gone smoother than expected. I’m feeling very excited about what is to come! I’ll of course keep you updated. 😉

Five Things Friday: March 8, 2019

Hi Friends!

I hope you’re all having an amazing day 😘 This week was full of life-changing events! Let’s get into the highlights:

Mezcaleria Callejon

Mexican food and good friends – what more could you want from life!? 🤩 Anastasiya and I had the pleasure of checking out Rodelio‘s newest creation: Mezcaleria Callejon. This did not disappoint! If you are in Rome and happen to be craving Mexican food – this is your place! PS. There’s a speakeasy downstairs 😉

A day with Gaia!

Gaia and I had an incredible day checking out Colosseo! ☀️ Gaia runs the Instagram account @supporting_zoey – which was my first ever fan account! 💛 We had the perfect day – sunshine, gelato & Colosseo! 🍦 My mind is always blown by this incredible place – Have you ever seen the Colosseum in person?

Alcazar

If you’re looking for a good night out in Rome check out Alcazar in Trastevere for live music 🎶 We had a great time celebrating my last hoo-rah (for now) in la città eterna, and what a fun night it was! 👯‍♀️

I said Goodbye to Rome…

Yes, it is true. I had to say goodbye to my beloved Roma. However, all I have been feeling is an intense gratitude for all that has come of these past few years. Incredible experiences and amazing friends – I feel truly blessed 🥰 Have you seen my Good-bye Italy video?

I made is Home

I made it home to Vancouver Island! 💙 I am so excited for this next chapter and to spend some quality time with my family over the next week. I have missed them so much!

Five Things Friday: January 18th, 2019

Hi Friends,

I hope you have had a wonderful week! 😊 Here are my highlights from the beautiful land of Italia 🇮🇹✨

IMG_9546

Palazzo Spada

On Saturday Elyssa and I visited Palazzo Spada and it was mind-blowing! 🤯 Of course, I am always left in awe of what the Italians were capable of, but the art and architecture within this Palazzo is not to be missed! I have highlighted the experience on my Instagram so be sure to check it out if you haven’t yet 🎨✨

Inspiration from Jana

I had such an uplifting conversation with my friend Jana this past Sunday 😊 We chatted for about an hour and a half on Skype and it super-charged me for the whole week ahead! Don’t you just love it when great conversations with good people do that? It’s like fuelling yourself up at the gas station 🚀 Jana also inspired me with a new pasta sauce idea – hummus! I created the dish above with hummus, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest and peperoncino, it was delicious! 👩🏼‍🍳

IMG_9714

New Friends

This week I definitely made some life-long friends 💛 I met Dorothy and Victoria through my Instagram tour on Airbnb and we just clicked! We met up a few more times to explore throughout the week and had so much fun! 👯‍♀️ I am so grateful for these ladies and all the uplighting conversations and inspiration they have given me 🤗 Until we meet again!

A Day in Bologna, Italy!

Elyssa and I got up to more adventures this week! 😄 On Thursday we decided to take a day trip to Bologna and we were blessed with the perfect weather for the occasion ☀️ We didn’t create too much of a plan before going, but it is often that spontaneous adventures are the best adventures and this was the case for this day. I am excited to share this special day with you soon in an upcoming Travel Diary this week 🌎

The Present and The Future

The more and more that I am choosing to actively live in the present moment the more I am finding myself not only fulfilled, but feeling extra optimistic about what is ahead of me. As I have been foreshadowing, there is a big change coming in my life, but it is one I am feeling more and more ready for each day 🙏🏼 If you find yourself ever feeling anxious about the future, try to focus on feeling happy in the NOW. This could be as simple as making yourself a nice cup of tea and reading a book. The gift of life is ours to enjoy.

Five Things Friday: January 11th, 2019

Hi Friends!

I hope you have all had an amazing week  😊Here are my highlights from Rome:

Speaking from my Soul

This week I have been incredibly inspired with my YouTube channel. I have made the intention that from now on I am going to speak only from my heart – not to say I wasn’t before, but the content I will be creating from now on be solely what I feel inspired about in the moment – content that helps people. I already have 3 videos up and scheduled for next week. I haven’t been this excited for my own content in a very long time! I hope you tune in

Winter in Rome

Winter in Rome is beautiful. The skies have been blue and the sights have been inspiring ✨ I’m so grateful to experience this magic every day. It’s been especially fun enjoying it rollar-blading along the Tiber!

Taking Care of my Body

This week has been a beautiful one for self-care 🌻 Initially I felt a bit guilty for not setting an alarm in the mornings and taking extra time to prepare food for myself, but as the week went on I realized how rejuvenating it has been for me. I have missed this loving “me-time” while I have been travelling and seemingly moving from one thing to the next non-stop… I’m practicing living in the present. 🙏🏼

Vipassana

I have officially filled out and sent in my application for Vipassana AND have been accepted! What a thrilling start to the year this has been. If you are not sure what I am meaning by this, check out my 2019 Goals video! 😊✨

An Exciting Project

I have been working away for the past few months on an exciting secret project. I will be launching it sometime in the next two weeks and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see this vision come to fruition – I think you’re going to love it too!! 🙏🏼💛

Five Things Friday: December 14

Hi Friends,

From Vancouver to Toronto here are the highlights of this incredible week! 😄

Big Smiles in Vancity

These girls are incredible. I had so much during my time in Vancouver thanks to these beautiful souls 😊 thanks for all the heart-to-hearts and memories. ❤️See you soon.

Charlie!

How cute is this little Amore? This is little Char, you have definitely seen her on my blog before, definitely on my Instagram and even in a couple of YouTube videos. She is one of my favourite dogs I have ever met and always puts such a big smile on my face 😊 I hope one day I can get a dog as special as her.

A Perfect Birthday

My Birthday was perfect! Truly I could not imagine a better day than what it was – I actually spent it with you guys in a vlog 🙂 you can check it out here. When I pictured my birthday in Fall I just imagined I would get to go ice skating outside and guess what? It manifested 😊✨ Special thanks to my amazing friend Nicole for ice skating with me (even though she is not a fan). Girl, you slayed – boots in parka and all!

Setting Intentions

This 2 month solo trip I have been on has really helped me carve out what I want 2019 to look like for myself. It’s going to be a big year, full of big changes, but I couldn’t be happier than for what’s to come. Let’s go 27! 🥳

Laughter, Smiles & Nostalgia

This is a photo of an old letter to Santa my Dad found and sent me this week. I found it hilarious and I think you will too 😝

Happy Holidays Everyone 😊

Five Things Friday: October 26

Hi Friends,

My apologies on the delay in this week’s #FiveThingsFriday. I have taken the week to do a lot of self-reflection at Rythmia Life Advancement Center in Costa Rica. I felt like I needed to take some time offline, so that is why I haven’t posted much on social media. However, I am back! Still in Costa Rica, but ready and refreshed to get writing and posting again 😊 Here are the highlights from my incredible week:

A night in Panama City

I spent Saturday night in a very funky hotel in Panama City called Riande Granada Urban Hotel. I booked this pretty last minute on hoteltonight.com and was impressed. I had a 24 hour layover I wanted to be comfortable and allow myself some space to collect myself before I was to be spending an intense week in Costa Rica – so it was perfect. I treated myself to a nice vegan dinner at The Loving Hut (highly recommend it) 🌿 and then spent the evening in my hotel room watching the finale of Shane Dawson’s latest series 👩🏼‍💻 I definitely need to check myself in for a cozy night at a hotel more often! It was perfect for some much needed me-time and it set the tone for the rest of the week.

Welcome to Rythmia

Honestly before arriving to Rythmia I had tons of thoughts running through my head and tons of emotions running through my body… I knew the week ahead of me would be challenging, but little did I know at the time it would become one of the best weeks of my life this far. I can’t wait to share more of my experiences with you in #Zovember (30 videos in 30 days on my YouTube channel).

The Journey Within

For those of you who don’t know what I was specifically up to at Rythmia it was a lot of yoga, meditation, breathwork and plant medicine 🌿 I had the life-changing opportunity of partaking in 4 Ayahuasca ceremonies with Shaman from all over the world 🌎 Ayahuasca is an ancient plant medicine from the Amazon jungle that has been used for over 5000 years to heal people: mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It gives one the opportunity to travel within the deepest parts of their mind, body and soul to allow great healing and soul-reconnection 🌻 I took the journey within and it worked. If you are curious about Ayahuasca, I recommend the free documentary The Reality of Truth with Michelle Rodriguez or the book Sh!t The Moon Said by Gerard Armond Powell.

Facing Yourself

It takes great bravery to face yourself and this is one of the greatest lessons I learned this week at Rythmia. Ayahuasca allows you to face your greatest fears and blocks right in the face – and let me tell you is that ever frightening 😫but the storms I faced always passed, and what is now left of those blocks and limiting beliefs is only a distant memory of what once was. The darkness and negative thought-processes that I once had, even just one week ago, no longer exist in my mind. I realized this week how brave I really am and that is something no one can take from me, not even my own mind.

Hugs & Holding Hands

It has been many years since I have been in a relationship or living near my family… so in that way I haven’t had many moments of long hugs or hand-holding. This is something you don’t realize you need until you have a really bad day, or unless you are in a safe enough space where this becomes a normality. This week at Rythmia I made up for my lost time, there were a lot of healing hugs and in times of need, I had loving hands to hold. I am so grateful for all of my new friends that so quickly became my family 💛

xx Zo

Five Things Friday: October 5

Hello my beautiful friends!

I hope you have had a lovely week so far 😊 Here are the highlights of mine:

Tea, please!

For the month of October I am partaking in a healthy challenge: #SoberOctober 🎃 I have given up coffee and alcohol and will be off of it for the entire month. So far I have really enjoyed the challenge 😊 It has me feeling refreshed and I have been sleeping deeper than I have in a very long time 😴✨

Sh!t The Moon Said

This week I finished the physical book Sh!t The Moon Said,” by Gerard Armond Powell 📓 This was a very inspiring true story about changing your life for the better. Powell explains how when you are open to life’s experiences and life’s magic, you have the ability to reconnect to your soul and live your greatest, most authentic life 🙏🏼 Packed full of wisdom, authenticity and change, I highly recommend this book🌚

Sunshine in a Mediterranean Garden

I spent Wednesday poolside at the Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria and what a dream it was. I swam, I read, I lounged… it was so peaceful and beautiful. The pool is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden filled with palm trees and umbrella pines – my favorites! 😍🌴 The parrots were chirping in the trees and the sun was hot. It was the perfect day to dream, set goals and visualize my next chapter ✨

Jo Malone London Event

On Thursday evening I attended the private Jo Malone event in Roma. The party was beautiful and of course smelled like magic! ✨ My favourite fragrances from Jo Malone is Mimosa & Cardamon and Lime, Basil & Mandarin 🧖🏼‍♀️ If you have never checked out Jo Malone London, I highly recommend it 😍👌🏽

Reflection

I’ve been reflecting a lot this week before I leave Rome for 7-8 weeks. I’ve noticed the Universe clearing many things out that have actually hindered my growth without me consciously realizing it. However, I am happy to report I have approached these changes with a positive, growth mindset and can see a greater, more abundant future for myself. It is always important we actually learn our lessons the Universe is sending us. That is how we move forward.
