Five Things Friday: April 5th, 2019

Hola Friends!

I hope you’re having an amazing day. I have so great highlights to share with you from Vancouver to sunny San Diego โ˜€๏ธ So, let’s get started! ๐Ÿ˜‰

VanCity Weekend

Every time I go to VanCity I always have the best time with the girls ๐Ÿ˜Š Catching up on life, enjoying delicious food and getting outside in the fresh air ๐Ÿ” it’s never a dull moment โœจ

HOLA SAN DIEGO!

I arrived in San Diego on Monday and it’s been the time of my life. There’s just something about being surrounded by great people under that Cali sunshineย ๐Ÿ˜„ Basically this photo with my sister Gabby sums it up! Infinite laughter and life chats ๐Ÿ’› If you’re looking for a giggle you can check out our Instagram highlights!

Blading Along the Beach

This has been my favourite place to rollarblade, EVER! โ˜€๏ธ Colomba and I have been rollerblading from Mission Beach all the way to La Jolla almost every day ๐ŸŒด The views and the fresh, ocean air have been incredible. What a feeling!

Thrifting

This week I went thrifting for the first time in many years! ๐Ÿ‘– You can actually check out the experience on Liz’s vlog ๐ŸŽฅ The girls helped me find some amazing summer finds, including this awesome vintage Levi’s skirt. I feel Summer-ready now ๐Ÿ˜Žโ˜€๏ธ

The aku Acupressure Mat

This week I received my first ever Acupressure mat! I had previously used the aku ball for my hands (it has been amazing for my poor circulation) so I had been curious about the mat. As it turns out the benefits have been incredible. As someone who deals with poor circulation, Scoliosis and Restless Leg Syndrome I can say that the Acupressure Mat has helped me find a better balance within my body. I have also been using it to meditate on to prepare for Vipassana! ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ There is a lot to be said about Acupressure (different from the invasive acupuncture), but the one thing I can pass onto you is that if you are looking to heal tension within the body and challenge your mind at the same time – this is your magic tool. Learn more about Aku and their products here. If you like anything, enjoy 15% off with “Zoey” upon checkout ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผย #HealHarder

Five Things Friday: March 15, 2019

Hi Friends!

I hope you’ve all had a fantastic week! Here are my updates from Canada ๐Ÿ˜Š

IMG_2550

Spa Day

What better way to get over jet-lag than to visit the Spa? ๐Ÿ˜› Meika (my stepmom) and I planned a fun day of visiting the Rock & Gem show, a sushi lunch, facials at the spa and spontaneously, we added an Italian dinner to the mix! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น It was the perfect day and full of lots of quality time. If you ever find yourself on Vancouver Island the Tigh Na Mara is one of the best spas – be sure to get the “Illuminating Facial,” you won’t be disappointed. ๐Ÿง–๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Hiking

Meika and I went for a hike on Sunday to a beautiful lookout over my hometown ๐Ÿ” There was a lot of snow up the mountain so this made for an event greater adventure than we planned for ๐Ÿ˜but overall it was a great day, full of fresh air and views.

Birthday Time!

This week we are celebrating two very special birthdays in my family ๐Ÿฅณ It is my Dad’s birthday and also my Bedstemor’s 90th Birthday! This weekend we are heading over to Vancouver as a family (18 of us!) for a fun weekend. To check out the highlights, follow me on Instagram!

Ski Day

On Wednesday my Dad and I went skiing up Mount Washington to celebrate his birthday! ๐Ÿฅณ The conditions were incredible โ˜€๏ธ I’ve been coming up this mountain since I was a little girl – it’s where I originally learned to ski and snowboard โ›ท I’ve missed skiing so much so I’m glad we made time for this!

Beautiful BC

I am truly grateful to have settled back into my original home for the past week. It’s been a breath of fresh air, literally ๐Ÿ˜›The transition of moving from Rome back to Canada has gone smoother than expected. I’m feeling very excited about what is to come! I’ll of course keep you updated. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi Friends!

I hope you’re all having an amazing day ๐Ÿ˜˜ This week was full of life-changing events! Let’s get into the highlights:

Mezcaleria Callejon

Mexican food and good friends – what more could you want from life!? ๐Ÿคฉ Anastasiya and I had the pleasure of checking out Rodelio‘s newest creation: Mezcaleria Callejon. This did not disappoint! If you are in Rome and happen to be craving Mexican food – this is your place! PS. There’s a speakeasy downstairs ๐Ÿ˜‰

A day with Gaia!

Gaia and I had an incredible day checking out Colosseo! โ˜€๏ธย Gaia runs the Instagram account @supporting_zoey – which was my first ever fan account! ๐Ÿ’›ย We had the perfect day – sunshine, gelato & Colosseo!ย ๐Ÿฆ My mind is always blown by this incredible place – Have you ever seen the Colosseum in person?

Alcazar

If you’re looking for a good night out in Rome check out Alcazar in Trastevere for live music ๐ŸŽถ We had a great time celebrating my last hoo-rah (for now) in la cittร  eterna, and what a fun night it was! ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ

I said Goodbye to Rome…

Yes, it is true. I had to say goodbye to my beloved Roma. However, all I have been feeling is an intense gratitude for all that has come of these past few years. Incredible experiences and amazing friends – I feel truly blessed ๐Ÿฅฐ Have you seen my Good-bye Italy video?

Five Things Friday: January 18th, 2019

Hi Friends,

I hope you have had a wonderful week! ๐Ÿ˜Š Here are my highlights from the beautiful land of Italia ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡นโœจ

IMG_9546

Palazzo Spada

On Saturday Elyssa and I visited Palazzo Spada and it was mind-blowing! ๐Ÿคฏ Of course, I am always left in awe of what the Italians were capable of, but the art and architecture within this Palazzo is not to be missed! I have highlighted the experience on my Instagram so be sure to check it out if you haven’t yet ๐ŸŽจโœจ

Inspiration from Jana

I had such an uplifting conversation with my friend Jana this past Sunday ๐Ÿ˜Š We chatted for about an hour and a half on Skype and it super-charged me for the whole week ahead! Don’t you just love it when great conversations with good people do that? It’s like fuelling yourself up at the gas station ๐Ÿš€ Jana also inspired me with a new pasta sauce idea – hummus! I created the dish above with hummus, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest and peperoncino, it was delicious! ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿณ

IMG_9714

New Friends

This week I definitely made some life-long friends ๐Ÿ’› I met Dorothy and Victoria through my Instagram tour on Airbnb and we just clicked! We met up a few more times to explore throughout the week and had so much fun! ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ I am so grateful for these ladies and all the uplighting conversations and inspiration they have given me ๐Ÿค— Until we meet again!

A Day in Bologna, Italy!

Elyssa and I got up to more adventures this week! ๐Ÿ˜„ On Thursday we decided to take a day trip to Bologna and we were blessed with the perfect weather for the occasion โ˜€๏ธ We didn’t create too much of a plan before going, but it is often that spontaneous adventures are the best adventures and this was the case for this day. I am excited to share this special day with you soon in an upcoming Travel Diary this week ๐ŸŒŽ

The Present and The Future

The more and more that I am choosing to actively live in the present moment the more I am finding myself not only fulfilled, but feeling extra optimistic about what is ahead of me. As I have been foreshadowing, there is a big change coming in my life, but it is one I am feeling more and more ready for each day ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ If you find yourself ever feeling anxious about the future, try to focus on feeling happy in the NOW. This could be as simple as making yourself a nice cup of tea and reading a book. The gift of life is ours to enjoy.

Five Things Friday: January 11th, 2019

Hi Friends!

I hope you have all had an amazing weekย  ๐Ÿ˜ŠHere are my highlights from Rome:

Speaking from my Soul

This week I have been incredibly inspired with my YouTube channel. I have made the intention that from now on I am going to speak only from my heart – not to say I wasn’t before, but the content I will be creating from now on be solely what I feel inspired about in the moment – content that helps people. I already have 3 videos up and scheduled for next week. I haven’t been this excited for my own content in a very long time! I hope you tune in โœจ

Winter in Rome

Winter in Rome is beautiful. The skies have been blue and the sights have been inspiring โœจ I’m so grateful to experience this magic every day. It’s been especially fun enjoying it rollar-blading along the Tiber!

Taking Care of my Body

This week has been a beautiful one for self-care ๐ŸŒป Initially I felt a bit guilty for not setting an alarm in the mornings and taking extra time to prepare food for myself, but as the week went on I realized how rejuvenating it has been for me. I have missed this loving “me-time” while I have been travelling and seemingly moving from one thing to the next non-stop… I’m practicing living in the present. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Vipassana

I have officially filled out and sent in my application for Vipassana AND have been accepted! What a thrilling start to the year this has been. If you are not sure what I am meaning by this, check out my 2019 Goals video! ๐Ÿ˜Šโœจ

An Exciting Project

I have been working away for the past few months on an exciting secret project. I will be launching it sometime in the next two weeks and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see this vision come to fruition – I think you’re going to love it too!! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’›

Five Things Friday: December 14

Hi Friends,

From Vancouver to Toronto here are the highlights of this incredible week! ๐Ÿ˜„

Big Smiles in Vancity

These girls are incredible. I had so much during my time in Vancouver thanks to these beautiful souls ๐Ÿ˜Š thanks for all the heart-to-hearts and memories. โค๏ธSee you soon.

Charlie!

How cute is this little Amore? This is little Char, you have definitely seen her on my blog before, definitely on my Instagram and even in a couple of YouTube videos. She is one of my favourite dogs I have ever met and always puts such a big smile on my face ๐Ÿ˜Š I hope one day I can get a dog as special as her.

A Perfect Birthday

My Birthday was perfect! Truly I could not imagine a better day than what it was – I actually spent it with you guys in a vlog ๐Ÿ™‚ you can check it out here. When I pictured my birthday in Fall I just imagined I would get to go ice skating outside and guess what? It manifested ๐Ÿ˜Šโœจ Special thanks to my amazing friend Nicole for ice skating with me (even though she is not a fan). Girl, you slayed – boots in parka and all!ย

Setting Intentions

This 2 month solo trip I have been on has really helped me carve out what I want 2019 to look like for myself. It’s going to be a big year, full of big changes, but I couldn’t be happier than for what’s to come. Let’s go 27! ๐Ÿฅณ

Laughter, Smiles & Nostalgia

This is a photo of an old letter to Santa my Dad found and sent me this week. I found it hilarious and I think you will too ๐Ÿ˜

Happy Holidays Everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š

Five Things Friday: October 26

Hi Friends,

My apologies on the delay in this week’s #FiveThingsFriday. I have taken the week to do a lot of self-reflection at Rythmia Life Advancement Center in Costa Rica. I felt like I needed to take some time offline, so that is why I haven’t posted much on social media. However, I am back! Still in Costa Rica, but ready and refreshed to get writing and posting again ๐Ÿ˜Šย Here are the highlights from my incredible week:

A night in Panama City

I spent Saturday night in a very funky hotel in Panama City called Riande Granada Urban Hotel. I booked this pretty last minute on hoteltonight.com and was impressed. I had a 24 hour layover I wanted to be comfortable and allow myself some space to collect myself before I was to be spending an intense week in Costa Rica – so it was perfect. I treated myself to a nice vegan dinner at The Loving Hut (highly recommend it) ๐ŸŒฟ and then spent the evening in my hotel room watching the finale of Shane Dawson’s latest series ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿ’ป I definitely need to check myself in for a cozy night at a hotel more often! It was perfect for some much needed me-time and it set the tone for the rest of the week.

Welcome to Rythmia

Honestly before arriving to Rythmia I had tons of thoughts running through my head and tons of emotions running through my body… I knew the week ahead of me would be challenging, but little did I know at the time it would become one of the best weeks of my life this far. I can’t wait to share more of my experiences with you in #Zovember (30 videos in 30 days on my YouTube channel).

The Journey Within

For those of you who don’t know what I was specifically up to at Rythmia it was a lot of yoga, meditation, breathwork and plant medicine ๐ŸŒฟ I had the life-changing opportunity of partaking in 4 Ayahuasca ceremonies with Shaman from all over the world ๐ŸŒŽ Ayahuasca is an ancient plant medicine from the Amazon jungle that has been used for over 5000 years to heal people: mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It gives one the opportunity to travel within the deepest parts of their mind, body and soul to allow great healing and soul-reconnection ๐ŸŒป I took the journey within and it worked. If you are curious about Ayahuasca, I recommend the free documentary The Reality of Truth with Michelle Rodriguez or the book Sh!t The Moon Said by Gerard Armond Powell.

Facing Yourself

It takes great bravery to face yourself and this is one of the greatest lessons I learned this week at Rythmia. Ayahuasca allows you to face your greatest fears and blocks right in the face – and let me tell you is that ever frightening ๐Ÿ˜ซbut the storms I faced always passed, and what is now left of those blocks and limiting beliefs is only a distant memory of what once was. The darkness and negative thought-processes that I once had, even just one week ago, no longer exist in my mind. I realized this week how brave I really am and that is something no one can take from me, not even my own mind.

Hugs & Holding Hands

It has been many years since I have been in a relationship or living near my family… so in that way I haven’t had many moments of long hugs or hand-holding. This is something you don’t realize you need until you have a really bad day, or unless you are in a safe enough space where this becomes a normality. This week at Rythmia I made up for my lost time, there were a lot of healing hugs and in times of need, I had loving hands to hold. I am so grateful for all of my new friends that so quickly became my family ๐Ÿ’›

Five Things Friday: October 5

Hello my beautiful friends!

I hope you have had a lovely week so far ๐Ÿ˜Š Here are the highlights of mine:

Tea, please!

For the month of October I am partaking in a healthy challenge: #SoberOctober ๐ŸŽƒ I have given up coffee and alcohol and will be off of it for the entire month. So far I have really enjoyed the challenge ๐Ÿ˜Š It has me feeling refreshed and I have been sleeping deeper than I have in a very long time ๐Ÿ˜ดโœจ

Sh!t The Moon Said

This week I finished the physical book Sh!t The Moon Said,” by Gerard Armond Powell ๐Ÿ““ This was a very inspiring true story about changing your life for the better. Powell explains how when you are open to life’s experiences and life’s magic, you have the ability to reconnect to your soul and live your greatest, most authentic lifeย ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผย Packed full of wisdom, authenticity and change, I highly recommend this book๐ŸŒš

Sunshine in a Mediterranean Garden

I spent Wednesday poolside at the Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria and what a dream it was. I swam, I read, I lounged… it was so peaceful and beautiful. The pool is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden filled with palm trees and umbrella pines – my favorites! ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒด The parrots were chirping in the trees and the sun was hot. It was the perfect day to dream, set goals and visualize my next chapter โœจ

Jo Malone London Event

On Thursday evening I attended the private Jo Malone event in Roma. The party was beautiful and of course smelled like magic! โœจ My favourite fragrances from Jo Malone is Mimosa & Cardamon and Lime, Basil & Mandarinย ๐Ÿง–๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ If you have never checked out Jo Malone London, I highly recommend it ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ

Reflection

I’ve been reflecting a lot this week before I leave Rome for 7-8 weeks. I’ve noticed the Universe clearing many things out that have actually hindered my growth without me consciously realizing it. However, I am happy to report I have approached these changes with a positive, growth mindset and can see a greater, more abundant future for myself. It is always important we actually learn our lessons the Universe is sending us. That is how we move forward.

Five Things Friday: September 28

Buongiorno Amici!

I hope you have all had a fantastic week. From Toscana back to Lazio, here are the highlights:

Flavours & Friendship!

On Friday I was lucky enough to visit the beautiful medieval tuscan town of Montepulciano with my friend Lorenzo ๐Ÿ˜„ Lorenzo took me to “Cantina Gattavecchi” which was hands down one of the best meals of my life ๐Ÿ I am so grateful to have shared such a great meal and day with someone so inspirational! Grazie Lorenzo and Buona Fortuna on your next chapter in Switzerland ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญโœจ

Fun in Tuscany!

Every time I visit Tuscany I always have the greatest adventures with my Fun in Tuscany family โค๏ธ A day spent with them is a day spent full of smiles and sunshine. I have no words to describe how much fuller my heart feels after a day spend with them. SO much gratitude. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ You can find some of our adventures here โ˜€๏ธ

Solo in Firenze

I came to Florence solo and I couldn’t be happier that I did. This trip was spontaneous – and of course, just what I needed at the perfect time. If you have ever visited Firenze you know how magical it is – sunsets along the river, the glowing streets and the breathtaking Duomo โœจ Tuscany has always taught me to say yes to life’s adventures and life’s magic. Thank you for always guiding me towards my biggest dreams ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

You Are A Badass

When I’m in need for a serious kick in the booty to knock procrastination out of the way and move forward towards my goals I always revisit the book “You Are A Badass” by Jen Sincero ๐Ÿ“’ This book is the one that really helped me believe it would be possible to move to Rome… and look at me here now, over two years later: in the window of my dream apartment, legal to stay for another year, blessed by so, so many experiences, people and things. It’s knowledge and inspiration that help us to reach our next levels. In this day and age we are so incredibly lucky to have all of this accessible to us at our fingertips ๐Ÿ“ฒ Could you use some inspiration this weekend or in the week ahead? ๐Ÿค” I highly recommend tuning into Jen Sincero’s You Are A Badass and/or You Are A Badass at Making Money on Blinkist! You can absorb each of these titles in 15 minutes or less ๐Ÿ˜Š Get your FREE 7 day trial from Blinkist here.

Remember…

“Remember the days you wished for the things you have now.” ๐Ÿ’› This quote is so powerful… You should know; I am not Little Miss Positive all the time, I have my dark sides too, as does everyone ๐ŸŒ— In times when I find myself frustrated, defeated, saddened, I always turn towards gratitude. Darkness cannot exist where there is light… bring forth the light. โ˜€๏ธ

xx Zo
