Five Things Friday: April 6

Hi Friends!

I hope you’ve all had a great week. I have been in Rome and I can definitely say Spring is upon us! 🌷 Here are the highlights:

I Went Out

In day to day life I don’t get out much. Living in Italy these days has felt a lot more like “surviving” and I am also guilty of being a bit of a workaholic, especially when I get anxious (doesn’t make much sense does it πŸ€”). However, because Gabby was in town I think she could tell I could use a night out so we met up with some of her friends and had a great time in Trastevere. From playing foosball at a Rumeria to dancing the night away to live music, it was just what I needed! Sometimes you just need to get out and dance it out! πŸ’ƒπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ’ƒπŸΌ

100,000 Subscribers!

100K happened this week on April 1st and it was no joke! πŸ˜„πŸŽ‰ I am so incredibly grateful for every single one of you who have ever watched, liked, commented or subscribed to my YouTube channel ❀️ Your support means so much to me 😊 as a giveaway I have partnered with Gioielli DOP to pick out a unique gift for a very special subscriber. Have you entered? Watch my 100K video to find out how.

Special Visitors

The day Gabby left I was also gifted with more visitors! Manesha, Shaguna and Aahana 😊 it has been great to have such wonderful sisters here to chat about life and enjoy the city while the weather has been shining β˜€οΈ I love when I watch other people fall in love with Rome (it seems to have that effect on a lot of people πŸ˜‰) We have some awesome plans for the weekend too! Be sure to follow along on Instagram to watch the adventures unfold. πŸ“Έ

Spontaneous Colazione

I recently discovered this cute cafe on a side street near my apartment. They even have vegan cornetti! πŸ₯ If you didn’t know the typical Italian breakfast consists of a spremuta (orange juice) 🍊, a cappuccino β˜•οΈ and a cornetto (also known as a croissant) πŸ₯. It is so often people go out for dinner or drinks, but how about a breakfast? (If you can) I definitely recommend treating yourself to a spontaneous breakfast this week. Not a bagel from Tim Hortons or something from the Starbucks drive-thru, but a sit down, enjoy your surroundings breakfast. 🍊 Cheers!

Sometimes you just need a sunset…

As previously mentioned the theme these days in Rome has been surviving. If I were to tell you the things I’ve had to go through the past couple of months since returning I think a lot of you would question why I am still here or how I am still sane. However, I understand I am in a period of contrast in life and the brightness is just around the corner… I must persevere as the only way out is through. My blog and my channel is a place for positivity so I will not be going into much more detail (but just know, I go through difficult times too). I have already taken the time to vent about such issues with my closest friends (sorry guys! πŸ™ˆ) and have began to take more time for myself, read and repeat affirmations and organize my life to the best I can. Sometimes we just need a sunset, something to grant us a pure moment of beauty to understand why all of the chaos makes sense. Thank you Rome, for granting me the craziest of chaos, yet the most beautiful moments. 🧑

Have a beautiful weekend friends ❀️

Five Things Friday: March 30

Ciao Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful week. From Amsterdam to Rome, here are the highlights:

VidCon Amsterdam

Last weekend I attended my first ever VidCon πŸŽ‰ It was a great time with both new friends and old and I left feeling very inspired to take my channel and content to the next level. I have uploaded one video on my main channel from Amsterdam (so far) and have 3 unlisted videos for Patrons only (PS. it’s never too late to join as you always have access to previous private content posted such as livestreams and private videos).

I Went Shopping!

Yes, the minimalist stops sometimes.. rarely, but when i do I prefer it to be inspiring and uplifting! It should be a celebration of a something meeting your vibrational level and thus being invited into your life (to understand more of my take on this you can read my book The Joy of Minimalism). Sofie, Mackenzie and I went for a little adventure one afternoon in Amsterdam and I cam across the beautiful dress pictured above in a shop called Sibine. The young woman who owned the shop, Simmie, was so incredibly kind to all of us and made our experience so fun! It was something out of a movie – all of us girls oogling over pretty dresses and trying them all on. I ended leaving with the stunning dress photographed above and another which will be perfect for my adventures this Summer! All of the pieces in Sibine are hand picked by Simmie, and you can tell, she prides her shop in quality.

Returning to Rome

This one has been on my favourites before… 😊 There’s just something about landing at Fiumicino Airport that always gets me feeling energetic and inspired. Rome is home and although I know the journey will not be a smooth one to live here, I am all-in (as everything in life should be).

The Sunshine has also returned to Rome and its really starting to feel like Primavera! 🌸 I am anticipating the return of the jasmine blossoms 🌼 – they create the most wonderful atmosphere throughout the city with their delicate, intriguing scent.

Gabby is HERE!

This past Summer in Ibiza little did I know I would meet one of my sisters in life! πŸ˜‹ I am so thrilled to report Gabby booked a spontaneous trip to Rome for 4 days from San Diego, California (as this is the only time she had off) and decided to spend it in Roma with me! 🀩 SO if you wanted that extra little bit of travel inspiration, well there it is! She is one of a kind and I am so grateful for her friendship πŸ€—Β Check out one of our videos together here!

#GRANDEFUTURO Merchandise!

FINALLY! This has been so hard to keep a secret 🀫: Cheryl, Sofie, Mackenzie & I (all photographed above) launched our very own “Grande Futuro” merchandise. In this launch you will find both crew necks and unisex tee shirts. “Grande Futuro” means your “great future” a term we coined to always refer to living, dreaming, manifesting and working towards our greatest futures in life! They’reΒ available until April 12th so be sure to get yours here! 😊

Five Things Friday: March 16

Ciao Amici!

Today I am writing you from bella Roma! I hope your week has been fantastic πŸ™‚ here are some of my highlights:

Blogger Lunch @ Clotilde

On Friday a few of us Blogger-gals were invited for a lunch at Clotilde. This was a very special Lunch because Saskia from Blog Ciao Tutti was in town from Amsterdam. It was so great to finally meet her because I had heard so many wonderful things! 😊 We all enjoyed a wonderful lunch filled with delicious food and deep glasses of red wine 🍷 I just love getting together with like-minded people to discuss all things Italy! For more on this special lunch and last weekend you can check out my Zoey’s Diary 27: First Weekend in the New Apartment! ✨

A Gatsby Night Out

On Monday night Anastasiya and I attended the launch of Zeglu (zero-gluten alternatives 🍝). Food is a very important subject here in Italy (as you can imagine πŸ˜‰) so of course this even was #Grande! The woman in the photo above was walking around on stilts and we had a wonderfully entertaining opera show! The whole event felt right out of The Great Gatsby (minus Leo, where was he??). The vlog will be up early next week so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for it πŸ‘€βœ¨

New Offices

This week I was lucky enough to find not only one new coffee shop which suits my working needs, but TWO! 😍 Both of which carry vegan treats! πŸ₯ I feel like the luckiest girl in the world πŸ€. Even though I adore my new apartment, sometimes I need an alternative working space to keep things interesting and productive (not to mention the upload speed at my place is a little non-existent πŸ˜…).Β By the way, I have changed my YouTube upload schedule to: Monday, Wednesday and Friday @ 11:00 AM CET for Spring and Summer… with the occasional surprise upload on Sunday πŸ˜‰ hint hint!

Roman Sunshine

The SUN came out this week. Not just that, “Oh, it’s sunny,” it was that, “OMG-TODAY-FEELS-LIKE-SUMMER SUN!!!” β˜€οΈ Maybe I’m getting a little ahead of myself, but it definitely felt like primavera this week (which is “Spring” 🌷 in Italian). Anastasiya and I took full advantage by planning a fun golden hour photoshoot 😊✨

Manifestation Walks

This week I had a couple amazing manifestation walks – if you don’t know what I mean by that you can check out this video. I can’t wait to share the story of how we manifested our apartment with all of you, because it really feels like magic! ✨ I can’t believe I get to walk outside my door into my old desktop wallpapers each day 😍 Sometimes when you’re feeling lack all it takes is a little stroll, a ray of sunshine and the sight of some fresh flowers (it’s all about the little things). No one knows what tomorrow brings, next week or even next year. All we have is right now.Β Take the time to feel grateful for all you have in this life, and all you have had the opportunity to experience. Bask in THAT abundance… πŸ’πŸ’›

Five Things Friday: March 9

Ciao Amici!

I hope you have all had a wonderful week! Mine was quite eventful from London to Rome so here’s what happened:

London Calling

If you didn’t know from last week’s blog I spent 5 days in London for a self-improvement course over the weekend. This course was quite intensive (13 hours per day for the full 3 days). Because of the intensity I only really had the morning on my final day to explore the cosmopolitan city, you can find my Travel Diary here. I was lucky enough to manifest the perfect weather to top off a very transformative trip 😊 I can happily say life will never be the same! I sure love learning, especially in the self-improvement category.

We Moved in a Taxi

Yes, you got that right. If you’ve been following along on Anastasiya and I’s apartment hunting ventures, you would know it has been far from easy. However; in the end we ended up manifesting the perfect space (seriously we manifested every detail!). The lesson or key πŸ”‘ here is to learn to let go. When we finally began to relax about our house-hunt and let go of the dream flat we felt was out of our reach; it came back to us. Video on this all coming soon, including footage of us moving in a taxi πŸš• (you know you’re minimalist when 😝).

Waking up in Rome

As much as I love seeing this world, nothing compares to waking up in Rome, the city of my heart ❀️ (this is the view from my new window). London was great, but I was happy to return to Rome just in time to spend an evening with Cheryl, Sarah and Matthias. We had great chats about the eternal city, life and future adventures 🌎 I am so grateful to have such amazing people in my life. Friends who are relatively “new,” but admirable, inspiring and authentic 😊✨ In case you missed it, here is a Collab us girls did on Sarah’s channel!

International Women’s Day

This International Women’s Day I worked for the entire day in my PJ’s (showered of course πŸ˜‰πŸšΏ) then spent a lovely evening celebrating with two of the most inspiring women in my life. Trust Elyssa from RomeWise.com to show us everything we need to know about our new “hood.” She took us to all the cutest places from a wine bar that looks like a library – to a fancy hotel with cute waiters – to another hotel bar with a secret garden where all of the locals hang out. I am so grateful for my “Roma Family,” these sisters have changed my life πŸ’› Every day the special women in our lives deserve to be celebrated!

Quiet Moments to Myself

I love living in Rome (did you know? πŸ˜‹), but really, this city grants me so many precious moments. This photo is from one moment that took my breath away. Sometimes in Rome, you feel you have the whole city to yourself because a stunning view stops you and you have no choice but to stop, admire, feel gratitude and of course snap a photo. Gratefulness comes so easily to me here as each day I am presented with the manifestation of a dream… I can’t believe 2 years ago I was sitting at a desk (unhappy and unfulfilled) staring at a desktop wallpaper of Rome each day and now I get to live it. Keep the faith πŸ™πŸΌ Your dreams are manifesting.

Five Things Friday: March 2

Ciao Amici!

I hope you all had a wonderful week. This morning I am writing you from snowy London, but before snowy London there was SNOWY ROME! For real…

ROMEOW!

On Saturday my amazing friend Elyssa (@RomeWise) and I went to Romeow Cat Bistrot. This is a vegan cat cafe/restaurant in Rome! The food as absolutely delicious and we of course spent the day surrounded by furry little ones, just like the one above! (I actually have a video up on my channel of my first visit here). After lunch we hung around for a few hours working on inspiring projects before heading out for Aperitivo. We’re always working, but always make sure we find the time to slow down and enjoy ourselves in la dolce vita.

Colosseo Rosso

Later on Saturday night something wonderful happened… The Colosseum was RED! If you know me you know I love the colour red. I had never seen anything like this before in my life so it was the cherry on top of the perfect day in my cittaΒ πŸ’ With Roma being so rainy lately there were a lot of puddles around to take some amazing photos… Even though I’m not the biggest fan, rain can sure make things even more beautiful.

Snow in Rome!

It’s true! It snowed in Rome this week. Many things have been uncertain in life this past month – my living situation, school, what’s next, etc. and I truly believe Roma snowed to remind us all to keep believing in the magic β„οΈβœ¨ You can see more footage of the snow on my YouTube channel.

picfxfile-40

A Walk & A New Book

After the snow stopped falling from the sky, of course the Roman sun did not fail us. Around 16:30 on our snow day I ventured out for a little walk to see what was left of the cold, white stuff, and to pick myself up a book I have been wanting to read for a while: The Agony and the Ecstasy: A Biographical Novel of Michelangelo. Although it was quite cold, the views were stunning making my trek so very worth it. It almost took a little toll on my brain too – my eyes could not comprehend I was looking at palm trees and umbrella pines covered in snow! If you’ve ever visited Rome in the Summer you most likely can’t even imagine how it could ever snow here! β˜€οΈβ˜ƒοΈ

An Evening Out Before London

On Wednesday evening Anastasiya (@Anastasiya_Craze) and I visited a cute wine bar we just so happened to stumble upon in Monti, we followed this up by some pasta of course! This evening was to celebrate letting go of what no longer serves us and embarking on new beginnings. This evening was full of heartfelt stories and conversations about life. I am so blessed to have “family” here in Rome β™₯️

PS. London, I’ve arrived! If you weren’t already aware I am in London for an intensive course on self-improvement. More on this next week😊

Five Things Friday: February 9th

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a #GRANDE week! πŸ˜€ Despite having a pretty bad cold, I have some fun highlights to share:

Cena con Rodelio

On Friday evening I caught up with one of my amazing friends here in Rome, chef Rodelio, also known as The Food Buddha. This dinner was filled with amazing food and conversations all about life journeys and what we hope to accomplish in 2018. I am so grateful for all of my friends here in Rome, as I feel a sense of family now – family who all share the same love for Rome. Fun coincidence: Rodelio has taken the same self-improvement course I am enrolled in in London in a couple of weeks!

The Tangerine Lining

I had had been battling a cough and cold from back in Canada and this week it finally caught up with me. Unfortunately this put a few things in my life on hold, but on the positive side it is citrus season in Italy! I have enjoyed spoiling myself with nature’s candy 🍊 Have you ever tried an Italian orange? Or a glass of freshly squeezed Italian orange juice? If you haven’t yet, you MUST put it on your bucket list! Italian oranges taste like sunshine β˜€οΈ – that’s the only way I can give any kind of justice to their description. There is always a silver lining in every unpleasant situation, in this case it is tangerine in colour.

Back to School!

Back to school! I never thought I would ever say that… Life surprises you sometimes doesn’t it? I’ve actually been more excited to attend school this week than I ever have in my entire life. I am loving learning more about my favourite language. Italian is so beautiful it feels like I am studying art, I suppose I am. 😊

The Universe’s Gym

I took a few days off of the gym because I was sick. When I was ready to go back I decided to attend a 15 minute spin class followed by a 15 minute stretching class to ease myself back into it… or so I thought. I raced to the gym from school on Wednesday to make it to spin on time. I was parched when I arrived, but thought I would be fine for 15 minutes. It turns out there was actually a typo on the class schedule and the 15 minute spin class (I thought I was in for) was actually a 55 minute INTENSIVE class! Here’s to jumping back in head first! 🀣 “The Universe always has a plan much greater than yours,” and in this case the Universe did not want me cutting corners on my goal of hitting a minimum of 3 classes per week. πŸ˜‰

My Italian Little Brothers

Yesterday evening I went to visit my Italian family! 😊 This is the family that I au-paired for when I first arrived in Roma. I brought my Italian little brothers these little Kinder Sorpresa (as they are their favourite) and they showed me all of their new toys from the holidays! We played Best Fiends and watched one of their favourite movies right now: The Emoji Movie πŸ˜‹Β …Oh to be a kid again! These trilingual little ones continue to inspire me, and I’m looking forward to spending more time with them while I am here. Hopefully soon, I will be able to speak Italian with them!
